Rotary, in EMKA’s eyes…

Ernest Kusiima was inducted into Rotary on 24th May 2005, and became President of Rotary club of Kiwatule exactly five years later, 24th May 2010. It has been a joy to be part of this Club but must add that as the world evolves, we need to continue ensuring we remain committed to the one cause for which we all joined Rotary … Service. Many Clubs have lost focus, many Clubs are at risk of losing focus, and RC Kiwatule is no exception. While I admit that we are all mortal, and human is to err, I came across a few lines from the book “In The Sphere of Silence, by Vijay Eswaranthat can keep one going, in this highly volatile world, especially as we endeavour to continue serving humanity. I would like

to share with you a few excerpts from the book:

1. Self Mastery: only they who master themselves can be masters of their fate, by overcoming the enemy within: anger & ego

2. Humility

3. Peace: To be in the midst of havoc and still be calm in one's heart.

4. Detachment: We only lose what we cling on to.

5. Discipline

6. Change: To change the results you are getting, you must transform the way you live your life.

7. Perseverance

8. Family

9. Communication: consistent and conscientious

10. Service: No matter how much money you make, how high you rise in your company, how respected an entrepreneur you are or how great a parent you become, the quality of your life will be measured by the quality of your Service.

“Even the simplest form of kind act can have the most profound effect on someone in need” (Eva Gregory)
