Rotary clubs to face off in 5-a-side football tournament
Rotary Club of Kiwatule launches Rotary 5-a-side Football Tournament in which Rotary and Rotaract Clubs will compete to win money for their club's community service projects
Rotarians and Rotaractors from around the country will on Saturday 26th September have an opportunity to display their football skills and win funding for their clubs when they compete in a 5-a-side football tournament dubbed theRotary Charity Shield.
The one-day tournament which aims to raise funding to support Rotary’s various community service projects around the country will see Rotarians trading the suits and ties they are normally associated with for football jerseys and boots.
Speaking at the launch of the event yesterday at Kabira Club, Ann Begumisa, President of the Rotary Club of Kiwatule urged Rotary and Rotaract Clubs to register their teams before the deadline date of 31st August.
“To participate, each club simply registers their team of 10 players 7 of whom must be members of the club. The other 3 players can be guests but only 1 can be a professional or semi-professional footballer,” Begumisa said
The tournament received a boost from Nile Breweries Ltd through their Castle Lite brand with Brand Manager Daphne Mwesigwa commending Rotarians for their service to the community and pledging the brewer’s continued support to their endeavours.
The Rotary Charity Shield is scheduled for Saturday 26th September at KCCA Stadium, Lugogo
