Rotary 5-a-side football tournament returns
Kampala – The Rotary 5-a-side fundraising football tournament returns and will this year be held on Saturday 27th July 2019 at KCCA Stadium Lugogo. The annual event now in its 5th edition brings together Rotarians and corporates from around the country
to raise funds for Rotary community service projects to help the less privileged in our communities countrywide.
Speaking at the launch of the event today at Lugogo, Vincent Bagambe the President of the Rotary Club of Kiwatule said that the event is one of the many ways that Rotaryraises money to serve the community.
“We are pleased to be announcing today the 5th edition of the Rotary-5-a-side fundraising football tournament that will be held next week Saturday 27th July at the KCCA Star Times Stadium, Lugogo. The event brings together Rotarians and corporates from around the country to have fun as we raise funds to serve the community,” Bagambe said.
“Over the last 4 years over 73 million shillings has been raised through this event which money has gone towards various service projects around the country including medical camps in different parts of the country, support towards Jjanyi Primary School,
Bwebajja, Kikandwa Health Centre, Mukono and others. This year, proceeds from the event are targeted at supporting the construction of Anamwany Health Centre in Amolatar District.”
Robert Kiggundu, the Chairman of the 2019 Rotary 5-a-side said that 32 Rotary and 16 corporate teams are expected at the one-day event that will run from 9am to 5pm. “This is a one-day event that will start at exactly 9am and go on up to 5pm. We shall be
having 50 teams of 10 people each competing at the event. Gates will be open to the public from 9am and entry fee for all non-players is 10,000/- only,” Kiggundu said
Winners in the different categories will walk away with prize money as indicated below which will go towards Rotary community service projects of their choice:
