Project Update 20160907 - Adopt-a-Village, Kiwatule GG1412412 Global Grant

  1. Toilet construction in progress: superstructure & roofing completed; final completion (including plumbing & drainage & sanitary fittings): first week of October
  1. Microfinance funds transfer to M/s Pride Microfinance Bank completed; kick off meeting was held on Saturday Aug. 6, 2016 (with RC Kiwatule, and the Bank, and the RCC); followed up by another meeting between the Bank and RCC Members
 
  1. Procurement of Batch 1 of the Classroom desks and shelves in progress; funds transfer processed; sample desk delivered and accepted ok; Batch one delivery September 14; to be followed by subsequent Batch 2
  1. Water pipes: identification & initial assessment of locations completed, in liaison with the RCC Chairperson and local community leaders; surveys by M/s: NWSC (National Water & Sewerage Corporation) scheduled this week for subsequent quotation; construction & connection ETA first week of October    
  1. sanitary towels procurement; funds transfer processed to M/s: Concern for the Girl Child; procurement in progress; ETA first week of October
 
  1. water harvesting tanks construction in progress; plinths Work in progress (at the Teachers’ / Staff Quarters, and at the Junior Classroom Block; await 2No. 5,000L water tanks ETA end September
          
  1. text books and teachers' guides procurement; funds transfer processed to M/s: Aristoc procurement in progress; ETA end September

    Generally, we are still on track to have the school aspects of this Global Grant completed and handed over to the Executive Director, KCCA (Kampala Capital City Authority) on October 8, 2016 as we celebrate our Charter Nite.
 
Only the microfinance aspect is what will remain running for 2 years, as we seriously consider growing the project from the 1 KCCA Primary School, to many other schools (probably 10, initially). And we continue to look forward to the reciprocal, mind-blowing joint international project in Nigeria.
